This position requires the Senior Accountant to be in office the first 5 business days of the calendar month, two days per week the remainder of the month; this attendance requirement is subject to change in the future.
As a Senior Accountant supporting efforts you will support the following areas:
Maintain the general ledger for Online schools in different states
Complete required state reporting related to the school financials
Work with the Head of School as needed on accounting / reporting issues
Assist with accounting setup of new Online schools
Perform variance analysis for financial statements and explain fluctuations from month to month, year over year, and against plan
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and propose any needed adjustments
Identify efficiencies in existing processes and propose solutions
Assist with putting additional controls and processes in place
Respond to financial related inquiries in a timely manner
Provide essential support during month-end close and the annual audits
Engage in special projects
Performs other duties as assigned
Report to Director, Accounting or Accounting Manager
About You
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
5-7 years of accounting experience. Public accounting experience or corporate accounting experience in a large company strongly preferred
Experience with managing the month end close process (including preparation of all types of journal entries)
Experience with Balance Sheet and Profit Loss analysis
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Strong knowledge of US GAAP
Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of and proficiency in an ERP system
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build relationships with all levels
Ability to perform highly detailed work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
Demonstrated history of problem solving
Superb ability to identify, analyze, and resolve accounting and system issues
Ability to work both independently and within a team for a dynamic, growing company
