Position

This role is an opportunity to be a critical member of a team of procurement and supply chain professionals supporting various internal stakeholders in meeting their diverse range of goods and services needs. In particular, the Sourcing/Category Manager will directly support research functions at Eikon including Biology, Chemistry, and Research Operations with oversight of categories of spend including but not limited to lab consumables/safety wear, various lab services, lab equipment, media, reagents, pre-clinical outsourced research and studies.

What You’ll Do

Collaborate with Scientists and Research Operations to identify product and service needs and opportunities to formulate into procurement strategies.

Collaborate with Scientists and Research Operations personnel to develop and implement category rationale and supply strategies for a wide variety of products and services.

Lead the sourcing, evaluation, and onboarding of new suppliers that are key to the company’s short and long-term success. Lead and/or support ad hoc projects (e.g. RFQs/Bids) to address various supply needs.

Co-lead the implementation of a supplier management framework and process. Utilize continuous improvement to drive the resolution of supplier issues and improve performance. Review and negotiate supplier agreements with legal and in alignment with stakeholder needs.

Develop and maintain relationships with key cross-functional stakeholders to ensure implementation of, and compliance with, agreed sourcing strategies.

Advise and educate stakeholders on viable primary and secondary sources of key material needs; organize and host product/supplier workshops where appropriate.

Manage end-to-end Purchase Order (PO) process for some departments as needed or directed.

Identify, benchmark, and communicate industry trends, market conditions, supply risks, and best practices within assigned category spend areas.

Proactively recommend avenues of spend efficiencies including bid cycles, alternate sourcing, volume pricing/breaks, tax exemptions, and vendor managed inventory (VMI).

Qualifications

Postgraduate degree with 4+ years of experience or Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in Life Sciences, Supply Chain, Business, or other related discipline.

Industry certifications desirable (e.g. ISM, ASCM, CIPS).

Proven experience in category management, sourcing, or strategic procurement preferably in life science research industry (GxP or non-GxP).

Demonstrated proficiency in assessing, translating, and communicating organizational needs into actionable supplier interactions.

Strong collaboration and communication skills with previous experience obtaining a seat at the table and partnering with internal research stakeholders to address objectives.

Excellent skills in supplier/project management, negotiation, and stakeholder influence.

Working knowledge of MS Office, JIRA, SAP, Coupa P2P and/or similar programs.

Ability to work and make decisions independently.

The expected salary range for this role is $122,000 to $133,000 depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.
