The Lee Building Company (LEE) Vice President of Operations is responsible for leading, overseeing and managing LEE’s construction activities and ensuring construction operations, finances and productivity remain in line with expectations. Responsibilities include managing construction budgets and schedules, resource management, supporting employee growth, building and maintaining client and contractor relationships, managing the smooth and efficient flow of information, maintaining construction sites’ quality and safety, and taking steps to prepare operations for the future.

As Vice President of Operations, you will:

Provide leadership for Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Crews, assisting them with policy and procedure implementation, and in meeting the company goals, and enabling them to succeed. Hold staff accountable for their areas of responsibility.

Keep CEO/Principal advised of planning, operations, financial status, job performance, organization, and overall progress.

Conduct Weekly Staff Meeting with Project Managers.

Review weekly Labor Cost Reports for all projects.

Conduct Monthly Project Review Meetings with Project Managers and Superintendents.

Review Monthly Job Cost Projections.

Conduct Annual Performance Reviews for Project Managers and Superintendent

Coordinate the Turnover Phase and attend all Turnover Meetings

Assign Project Managers and Superintendents.

Assign and Schedule Manpower.

Review Subcontracts and Purchase Orders before issued.

Review all Proposed Change Orders and Final Change Orders.

Conduct periodic Job Inspections. Review observations with Project Manager and Superintendent. Make recommendations and provide support.

Assist Project Manager with Job Schedule.

Attending Weekly Job Meetings as necessary.

Assume responsibility for Overall Quality and establish Quality Program.

Assist in Preconstruction as needed.

Assist in Bidding and Estimating as needed.

Handle and resolve unexpected challenges with a resourceful, problem-solving mindset and the highest level of professionalism.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction Management, advanced degree a plus.

10 to 15+ years of experience in commercial construction as a Construction Executive, Vice President, or Senior Project Manager. At least 8 years of recent experience of projects $5.0 million and larger.

Ability to communicate a plan, motivate others and instill company values, and accomplish the stated objective as a team.

Solid technical knowledge of building construction means, methods and systems including complete understanding of all trades and work disciplines; familiarity with resources for maintaining current knowledge.

Ability to read, understand and interpret building plans, construction contracts and project specifications.

Strong and consistent communication skills, including emotional awareness, active listening, respectful language, constructive feedback, and collaborative problem solving.

Ability to build productive and enduring relationships through open collaboration within the project planning group, with field operations teams, design team and clients.

Ability to maintain a positive attitude, professional demeanor and perform well under project constraints and deadlines.

Ability to retain flexibility, while still providing reliability and consistency. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the highest level of integrity.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to plan and prioritize objectives to achieve high-quality, successful results.

Proficient with Office 365 (Excel, Project, Word, Outlook), Procore, Bluebeam. Ability to achieve proficiency with recent technology solutions.

Demonstrate a learning orientation. Willing to pursue related educational and training opportunities with intellectual curiosity for job performance improvement on an on-going basis, and to openly share knowledge and debate concepts with appropriate members of the project team.
