Our firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our litigation team. We are looking for someone who is familiar with all aspects of the trial process, particularly drafting pleadings, motions, and notices, and working toward a resolution.

Effectively manages assigned caseload from case opening to dismissal
Monitors and manages all case deadlines effectively
Regularly consults with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties as needed to effectively move cases forward in a timely manner
Effectively prepares case files for negotiation of settlements including all aspects of damages and liability
Strategize, prepare for and attend trial proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and depositions
Complete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs
Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings
Background Research & Case Development
Responsible for Effective Planning and Execution of cases
Effectively Handles Negotiation & Settlement Discussions
Witness Preparation & Development
Stay updated on changing applicable laws and statutes on the local, state, and federal levels
Qualifications:
1-3 years experience as an associate in the legal field
An active member in good standing with Kansas and Missouri state bar associations. Other states have a bonus (Illinois, California, etc.)
Exceptional time management and interpersonal skills are desired, as are exceptional writing and verbal communication skills
Previous experience advocating for clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration
Demonstrated experience in successfully executing legal strategy, taking depositions, motion practice, trial, arbitration, hearings, producing witnesses for depositions, and other key litigation events
In addition to excelling at researching and brief writing, the ideal candidate should be adept at critical thinking, persuasion, ability to see the big picture, finding and focusing on what’s important, and communicating effectively amongst team members, other attorneys, the Court and staff, co-counsel, and outside vendors
Persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills are critical, along with time management and interpersonal skills
