Mays Chemical Company, Inc. Traffic Manager

Mays Chemical Company, Inc. is a fully integrated chemical distributor, recognized as an optimal source for chemicals, related raw materials, formulated products, and outsourcing services.

Mays Chemical Company, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Traffic Manager to work in the Indianapolis facility. The selected candidate will report to the VP Of Supply Chain Management. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following essential duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage / Supervise Mays Chemical internal traffic team’s job functions.

Managing the company’s private fleet maintenance program including contract management and vehicle maintenance record administration.

Ensures public/private fleet operations operate within established budgets and in compliance to state and federal regulations.

Maintains all permits, registrations, and licenses required by DOT, FMCSA applicable to state and federal regulations related to company private fleet functions.

Designs and maintains company security programs and procedures regarding fleet as required by DOT and FMCSA.

Oversees the company’s 3PL partnership contract.

Work in collaboration with Mays Chemical Co, 3PL Partners Logistics Team to establish freight lanes that can be serviced economically by the MCC Private Fleet. Establishes schedules for drivers and ensures that they have appropriate customer instructions for pickups and deliveries.

Work in collaboration with Mays Chemical Co, 3 PL Partners Logistics Team to establish KPI (Key Performance Indicators) annually to establishes transportation operations metrics and implement for continuous improvements as necessary to ensure Mays’ operates with a high level of quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Manage all modes of transportation including but not limited to the following: Liquid Bulk, Intermodal (Rail), Air, Ocean (Vessel) Full Truck Loads, Less Than Truck Load.

Manage / Supervise International Imports and Exports Shipments including but not limited to required DOT training for personnel.

Supervises truck drivers operating private fleet vehicles. This includes conducting DOT required security/background checks, driver qualification training.

Generates transportation activity reports daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually as required by DOT regulations. Conducts analysis of 3PL partner’s TMS logistics systems, private/public fleet operations metrics to recommend shrinkage/growth of TMS logistics systems/private/public fleet to economically meet customer requirements and anticipated business needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in Business, or related field, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Certificates, licenses, and registrations required: Valid driver license with a good driving record.

Three (3) plus years’ experience operating a commercial/for-hire or private fleet operation.

Five (5) plus years’ experience in a logistics/traffic environment preferred.

Computer skills, Contract Management Systems; Development Software, Inventory Software, Microsoft Office Suites, Project Management Software.
