Job Description

General Description: Assist the facility in maintaining compliance with all permits and rules that apply to the facility. Responsible for following guidelines set forth by the TCEQ, EPA, and any other environmental agency, as well as all internal guidelines/procedures set forth by Lion Elastomers LLC.

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to: Environmental Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must understand and remain aware of all applicable Environmental laws or regulatory changes that affect the facility.

Prepare reports related to waste, wastewater, and the public water system.

Monitor and track corrective actions.

Coordinate sampling/testing with outside labs.

Track and maintain recordkeeping data for wastewater and storm water outfalls.

Assist with the implementation of the GLO/SPCC and Pollution Prevention Planning.

Coordinate and prepare the DMR-QA study.

Create waste profiles as needed.

Maintain filing for all waste streams including manifests and profiles.

Inspect the waste pad weekly. Maintain an inventory and track waste accumulation dates.

Coordinate waste/recycle pickups with outside vendors/landfills.

Track sitewide waste and recycling activities.

Track and maintain records of public water system usage and test results.

Issue public water system notices, as needed.

Track Work Orders in SAP in conjunction with MSS recordkeeping requirements.

Participate in site audits for Environmental and ISO 14001 compliance.

Complete other reporting requirements, as needed.

Participate in permitting activities, as needed.

Provide feedback in management of change activities.

Complete RCA summaries and monitor all related action items.

Assist in implementing training programs to meet the requirements of permits.

Complete monthly visual audits of various areas of the plant.

Complete computer-based training in a timely manner.

Participate in weekly Environmental meetings.

Perform other duties as required by Department Manager or Site Manager, such as preparing for, attending and/or supporting special events and projects. Examples include: assisting with outreach activities, participating in staff retreats, agency fairs and speaking engagements, as deemed applicable.

Nonessential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assigned by the Environmental Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Budget Responsibility:

This position has no budget responsibilities.

Minimum Education:

Must have two or four year degree from an accredited academic institution in a science related field including but not limited to Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Science.

General Qualifications:

Certified RCRA representative or be willing to work towards RCRA accreditation.

Have DOT Hazardous Materials certification, or be willing to complete the process to become DOT Hazmat certified.

Two to four years experience demonstrating competency in Environmental position.

Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.

Ability to identify priorities and coordinate a variety of functions and tasks.

Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse cultures.

Must have adequate/available and reliable transportation.

Equipment Used:

Telephone, personal computer, printer/copier, and fax machine.

Working Conditions:

Work is carried out in a controlled, agreeable environment as generally represented by normal office conditions and outside plant conditions.
