D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Corporate Safety Director. The right candidate is responsible for overseeing the company's comprehensive safety program ensuring the overall safety of the workplace, complying with regulatory requirements, and protecting the company's employees and assets. Provide technical knowledge and build safety compliant culture

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist the divisions in the implementation and management of their safety program

Conduct thorough investigations and analysis of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and contributing factors. Generate detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions and continual improvement

Act as point of contact for addressing employee concerns regarding health and safety policy

Develop, implement and monitor compliance with the company’s safety policies and procedures

Ensure that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, and that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met

Oversee interactions with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration

Deliver effective safety training sessions to employees at all levels ensuring a comprehensive understanding of DRH safety protocols and promoting a proactive safety culture and set policy for interaction with subcontractors and trade partners

Maintain organized and up-to-date safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection records, and training records

Develop and maintain a training reference library and other educational materials

Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices, continuously enhancing knowledge and skills in construction safety

Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

Ability to travel overnight

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises 2 or more employees

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Occupational Safety and Health (preferably with concentration in Construction Safety) or equivalent designation

Seven years related experience and/or training

In-depth knowledge of OSHA, environmental law and health and safety at work state and federal legislation

Proven skills to identify onsite construction hazards and recommend/implement elimination, mitigation or controls

Proven knowledge of construction equipment, methods, and processes and how to incorporate best safe practices in daily activities

Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications

Proficiency with MS Office and email

Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; climb ladders and scaffolding; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision

During construction site visits, exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock

The noise level is generally moderate but can be loud at active construction site

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Safety Director (CSD), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification a plus

Experience conducting safety training a plus

OSHA 30 and OSHA 510 certifications are preferred
