Electronics Technician
Job Description
Aerolab is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an Electronics Technician position. The candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and testing wind tunnel laboratory electronics, instrumentation, and control systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to perform the following routine functions:
· Proper interpretation of design specifications, drawings, and schematics
· Perform installation of wind tunnel model electrical and pressure instrumentation, as well as a variety of specialized electrical and electronic test equipment
· Calibration of instrumentation including force balances, pitot tubes, and transducers
· Execution of system “check out” tests, including test preparation, execution, data collection, and reporting
· Monitor test equipment and wind tunnel instrumentation and control systems to ensure accurate test results and avoid damage to the test facility or wind tunnel models
· Troubleshooting of laboratory systems
· Preparation of reports and manuals
· Preparation and mark-up of as-built drawings
Required Skills
· Knowledge in the field of electronics and instrumentation with an understanding of the underlying principles
· Demonstrated electronics skills
· General knowledge of laboratory operations and test practices, electrical equipment operations, electronic test equipment
· Familiarity with engineering terminology
· Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and Word Processing software
· Have a basic understanding of mechanical systems and wind tunnels
· Good time management skills, high work ethics
· Positive contributor to team participation
· Focused, methodical with good analytical skills
· Prior experience working in a wind tunnel laboratory environment is desirable
Location and Travel
· The position is based at Aerolab’s facility in Jessup MD
· Travel is expected at approximately 50% of the time
