Field Sales Manager

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Regional Sales is accountable for the profitable achievement of key performance indicators associated with the assigned markets, segment, and sales team managed in line with company values. The Sales Manager is responsible for the sales team’s productivity, and directs their effort in order to have the highest overall impact on company results. The Sales Manager manages all aspects of running an effective sales team, including hiring, supervising, developing, training and motivating direct-report sales associates. Additionally, the Field Sales Manager will represent a key leadership role for the Columbus branch.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

Prioritizes associate development and performance management efforts to achieve the greatest overall impact on business results.

Promotes cooperation between Sales reps, sales support personnel, Operations and Management, so that performance objectives are met and customer experience is optimized.

Proactively reviews sales activity and effort among sales associates managed, ensuring that the quality and quantity of sales efforts meet company expectations.

Identifies deficiencies in skills among sales team members, and works to improve individuals’ capabilities through coaching, development, and training.

Works with organizational development team to recruits, hire, and develop associates, utilizing company guidelines and support resources.

Works with VP of Sales to ensure market-level strategic and business objectives are met by the sales team.

Directs and supports the consistent implementation of company initiatives.

Positively impacts the performance of individual sales team members by implementing and managing field support tools, including training programs, productivity initiatives, account and territory planning strategies, and customer communication tools.

Leads sales forecasting and pipeline efforts among the team, ensuring that accurate forecasts are completed on a timely basis.

Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer requirements and satisfaction by engaging key customer accounts in conjunction with sales personnel managed.

Provides a management-level point of contact for key customers. Builds and maintains strong customer relationships.

Builds peer support and strong internal-company relationships with other key management personnel.

Establishes productive relationship with Data Analyst and Marketing based on frequent communication, collaboration, and the effective allocation of marketing investment in the marketplace managed.

Ensures accuracy and utilization of customer relationship management (CRM) tool.

Performance Measurements

Meets assigned team goals for sales, profits, and strategic objectives.

Accountable for assuring accuracy of company required sales reports and forms.

Achieves strategic team objectives defined by Senior Management.

Implements effective coaching and development of sales team.

Develops high working knowledge of all products, processes and applications.

Meets and promotes all requirements and expectations as defined in the company handbook, Code of Conduct and Purpose 27 principles.

Desired Skills and Experience

Four-year college degree, preferred

2+ years of sales management experience in a B2B industrial environment

Material Handling industry experience strongly preferred

High proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

In-depth understanding of sales performance metrics

Familiarity with CRM software

Excellent analytical and organizational skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to lead and motivate team members

Ability to travel as needed
