Assistant Controller

Job Description

A well-respected company is looking for a success-driven Assistant Controller with the help of Robert Half. This Assistant Controller position consists of regulating the day-to-day of the accounting staff and providing updates to the Controller. An Assistant Controller position has opened up with one of our clients. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter with a demonstrated history of resolving problems after identifying issues. Your responsibilities in this role

- Sophisticated preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits

- Participate with the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting

- Other duties when requested

- Advance to ensure a competent, trained staff through development, goal setting, and regular assessment

- Prepare a variety of technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures

- Specify and generate process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency

- Establish relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like the monthly flash report, key financial metrics, and actual spend against budgets/outlook

- Inspect and make Ad Hoc financial reports

- Support the accounting team during the closing process to confirm deadlines are met

- Backfill for Controller when necessary

- Foster accountability and the meeting of deliverables

- Support implementation and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures

- Warrant regular account reconciliation to completion- Internal Control experience

- Demonstrated knowledge of Prepare Financial Reports

- Adeptness in financial reconciliation

- Budget forecasting experience preferred

- Financial reporting experience

- Expertise in cost analysis

- Solid understanding of month end closings

- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

- Proficient in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems

- 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

- Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired

- Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Remarkable accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred

- CPA certification a plus

- Ability to multitask effectively
