Surgical Technologist

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team in a surgery center setting. The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for assisting in surgical procedures, ensuring the operating room is set up with necessary equipment, and providing support to the surgical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and a commitment to patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary surgical equipment and instruments are sterilized, organized, and ready for use.

2. Assist the surgical team by handing instruments and supplies to surgeons and nurses during procedures.

3. Maintain aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures to minimize the risk of infection and ensure patient safety.

4. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and proactively prepare for each stage of the procedure.

5. Collaborate with the nursing and anesthesia team to ensure a smooth flow of the surgical process.

6. Assist in positioning patients for surgery and help with prepping the surgical site.

7. Document all surgical procedures, including pre-operative and post-operative care, accurately and in a timely manner.

8. Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, including safety protocols and infection control measures.

9. Maintain knowledge of surgical equipment, instrumentation, and technologies, and participate in ongoing training and education.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Completion of an accredited surgical technology program and certification as a Surgical Technologist.

2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a surgical center setting, with a focus on efficiency and attention to detail.

3. Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and procedures.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals.

5. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations and adapt to changing circumstances.

6. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality in patient care.

7. Physical strength and dexterity to handle surgical instruments and assist with patient positioning.

8. Knowledge of safety procedures, infection control, and OSHA regulations related to surgical environments.

Working Environment:

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced surgery center setting, collaborating closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other medical staff. This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move heavy equipment, and maintain focus during long surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist will adhere to strict safety and infection control protocols to ensure patient and staff well-being.
