Job Description JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the System Director of Organizational Performance and the System Infection Control Director, the Assistant Director of Infection Control at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for coordinating and leading various aspects of the infection control and prevention program, overseeing clinical operations, reviewing roles and responsibilities of infection prevention staff, budgeting, compliance with infection prevention and control standards, and adherence to regulatory standards.

This role involves actively participating in committee meetings, providing leadership to infection preventionist, and ensuring the standards of patient care and safety are maintained throughout NMHS.

JOB FUNCTIONS Coordinate: * Collaborates with the System Infection Control Director to lead and coordinate the infection control and prevention program.

* Participate in committee meetings to establish organizational strategy and drive clinical, financial, and operational excellence * Support operational, regulatory, and clinical processes for infection control.

* Works collaboratively as a resource and consultant across the organization, including clinics, acute care, procedural areas, ambulatory care, and long-term care.

* Works collaboratively with the System Director of Infection Control and the Director of Safety in disaster preparedness and reviewing/revising the emergency operations plan as needed.

Leadership/Supervise: * Development of objectives that will improve operational effectiveness and patient safety and drive clinical excellence in infection control and prevention.

* Ensure standards of patient care are consistent with professional practice standards.

* Promote and enforce departmental compliance with general safety and infection control standards.

* Communicate with other departments to ensure regulatory guidelines and best practice are followed.

* Participate and network with local, state, and national organizations like the CDC, OSHA, IDSA (Infectious Diseases Society of America, APIC (Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology), state and federal regulatory guidelines, and other leading practice committees.

* Assess and manage infectious disease processes or outbreaks.

* Monitors operational compliance with licensure, accreditation and regulatory standards and recommends changes as needed.

* Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of infection preventionist.

Budget/Financial: * Along with the System Infection Control Director, develops and manages the infection prevention expenses and budget.

* Lead processes to continually improve clinical, financial, and operational effectiveness and performance.

Plan and Implement: * Development and implementation of annual goals and objectives based on the NMMC Critical Success Factors and Strategic Plans * Monitor and recommend improvements in policies and procedures relating to infection prevention.

* Review infection control data, risk assessments and summaries to develop action plans.

* Work with infection preventionist to ensure data is entered timely and correctly and is validated in all systems and scorecards applicable.

Regulatory: * Ensure that NMHS Policies/Procedures/Guidelines are following the most up to date evidence and are being followed appropriately.

* Adhere to State/Federal regulatory and accrediting agency policies.

Ability to work well with physicians, advanced providers, clinical staff and patients required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals and multidisciplinary teams required.

Responsible for staying abreast of new developments in the field infection prevention to identify and implement interventions that will improve patient quality outcome measures and reduce overall healthcare costs required.
