The Bureau of Survey and Certification (BOSC) is responsible for conducting survey inspections to ensure health care providers and clinical laboratories are compliant with state and federal requirements.

The Ohio Department of Health supports a hybrid teleworking model. This position may work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the manager or supervisor, which will require occasional attendance in the office for training, meetings and other operational needs. Employees must reside within a reasonable distance to their assigned headquarters for compliance with workplace reporting requirements.

What You'll Do:

Manages and oversees daily operations within the Bureau of Survey and Certification (BOSC), Survey Training and Technical Support area: Training unit, Provider Resource and Education Program (PREP), Minimum Data Set (MDS), Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP), Data/Tech.

Supervises staff (e.g., assigns/reviews work, completes performance evaluations, approves leave requests, recommends and implements discipline as needed, participates in interviews, review grievances, works with labor relations on staff issues) and directs office/unit/program supervisors and other lower level staff on matters pertaining to survey training and technical support and bureau program administrative or management functions.

Designs and implements scientific systems approach to health care survey program through the use of computer program (e.g., feasibility studies and recommendations on the use of technology for information/program management, electronic mail, and other computer programs designed to facilitate information/program management).

Assumes responsibility for all bureau programs and activities in the bureau chief's absence.

Assists in writing policy for both the administrative and programmatic operations of the bureau, monitors policy and ensures compliance.

Monitors regulatory guidelines and advises bureau chief on required state and/or federal

requirements regarding survey/review requirements (e.g., laws, rules, policies, procedures,

precedents) found in various publications (e.g., program letters, the federal register,

professional journals) concerning the regulation of health care providers and residential care

facilities by state agencies.

Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (Flexible Schedule). This is an exempt hourly position, with a pay range of 15 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule.

Certification, licensure, or registration commensurate with assigned discipline (i.e., registered nurse, or licensed dietitian, or licensed social worker, or registered environmental health specialist); 24 mos. exp. as Health Care Facilities Office Surveyor – Independent, 61592 or Health Care Facilities Field Surveyor – Independent, 61582.
