The Bureau of Survey and Certification (BOSC) is responsible for conducting survey inspections to ensure health care providers and clinical laboratories are compliant with state and federal requirements.

The Ohio Department of Health supports a hybrid teleworking model. This position may work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the manager or supervisor, which will require occasional attendance in the office for training, meetings and other operational needs. Employees must reside within a reasonable distance to their assigned headquarters for compliance with workplace reporting requirements.

What You'll Do:

The Data Administrator Manager 1 plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, security, and efficiency of data used in various healthcare programs like ASPEN, OASIS, and MDS. This position works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop, maintain, and enforce data administration policies and procedures that adhere to federal and state regulations.

Collaborate with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to implement data definition standards for ASPEN, OASIS, and MDS systems.

Participate in the Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (QIES) team to develop data administration policies and procedures aligned with Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and office directives.

Act as the technical liaison for ASPEN, coordinating with CMS, contractors, and the Office of Management & Information Systems (OMIS) during development and implementation.

Conduct software evaluations and recommend appropriate selections to maintain data administration systems.

Manage data access rights within the ASPEN system.

Track office computer equipment, forecast needs, and budget for future equipment.

Maintain the ASPEN data dictionary, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with CMS standards.

Provide technical support for internal ASPEN users and external MDS/OASIS users.

Respond to inquiries regarding program-specific software applications from healthcare providers, consultants, vendors, and office staff.

Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on data administration best practices.

Perform other assigned data administration duties, such as providing program information for coordination purposes.

Research and utilize technical documentation to assist in program development and problem-solving.

Manage and manipulate data through computer terminals.

Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (Flexible Schedule). This is an exempt hourly position, with a pay range of 14 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule.

Position Qualifications:

Completion of undergraduate core program in business in business or public administration or data processing/computer science/information systems technology; 2 yrs. exp. or 2 yrs. trg. in which included responsibility for developing standards for new & existing data definition, product evaluation, recommending software selection, design & development of data bases to include security measures/controls & how data is to be accumulated maintained, archived & removed from system.
