JOB SUMMARY:

AXIS Automation is seeking an Electrical Controls Designer (AutoCad Electric), under the direction of the Engineering Manager. We are seeking an experienced AutoCad Electric designer with a background in panel layout, creating schematics, mechanical drawings for panel cutouts. An Electrical Controls Designer will partner with our engineering, field service, and assembly teams to build highly engineered decorating and finishing equipment for the baking and snack food industry. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

Develop electrical schematics with a modular systematic approach

Detail our title block

Create/modify our project structure

Create and maintain symbol libraries for standard electrical components

Produce mechanical drawings with dimensional tolerances for cabinet modifications

Excellent communication with design team and customers to conceptualize, develop, carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits

Author and implement PLC ladder logic with an emphasis on simplistic, effective code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable

Configure VFDs using a standardized parameter configuration method

Modify standard HMI screen to meet machine requirements

Work with programmers and field service technicians to refine design, troubleshoot systems in-house and in the field

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of 5 years of AutoCad Electric experience relating to panel layout design

Be able to produce electrical schematic with standard electrical symbols

Produce complete bills of material templates

Understand NFPA 79 UL 508, CE and CSA requirements as they apply to industrial control systems

Be familiar with "best practices" with regards to voltage segregation and wire routing in panels and raceways

Total comprehension of automation components, wiring practices, and how they are interconnected. This includes PLCs, VFD, HMI, servos, analog signals, digital signals, transformers, MCPs, relays, fusing, circuit protection, etc.

Proficient in Microsoft® Office® suite

DESIRED (BUT NOT REQUIRED):

Experience with assembly of custom automation equipment in the food or pharmaceutical industry

A solid mechanical aptitude

Knowledge of robotics

Heater and temperature control systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (and ADDITIONAL NOTES):

Working conditions are normal for a professional office environment with occasional visits to modern manufacturing facility

Clean, well-maintained, and comfortable workspaces

Required use of PPE including but not limited to; steel toe shoes and safety glasses in manufacturing areas

Requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Company Description
