Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices and peripheral stents

Our location in Temecula, CA, currently has an opportunity for a Tooling Design Engineer.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Perform detailed mechanical design of Manufacturing fixtures and assembly aids

• Perform part to CAD analysis of injection molded components to determine deviation of as built condition.

• Update 3D injection molded component designs to resolve non-parametric features.

• Interface with internal customers to provide mechanical design support for manufacturing and testing equipment

• Support the development of automated equipment

• Evaluate process and design alternatives based on Design for Manufacturability principles.

• Establish knowledge base of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.

• Interface with vendors on procuring materials, services, and equipment

• Assemble and evaluate automated equipment

• Establishes machine specifications.

• Support equipment validations

• Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

• Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

• Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

•Working environment varies from standard office/cubicle with air/sound/light control to general laboratory and production areas with varying physical conditions including “clean room” situations

Equipment:

On occasion, work with a variety of production equipment, small hand tools, test equipment, and precision measuring instruments.

Use standard office equipment such as telephone, fax/copier, and a personal computer with standard office software.

Physical Demands:

Activities require a significant amount of sitting in front of a computer monitor, some standing and walking.

Significant use of hands and arms, plus finger dexterity to reach, point, write, type, operate a computer and other office equipment.

Performs tasks that regularly require good correctable vision and hand/eye coordination. Activities also require significant use of voice and hearing for discussions with other employees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:

General Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or Associates degree in equipment technology with 7-10 years’ experience

• 3-5 years’ experience as machine design engineer

• Must have experience with designing and fabricating automated production equipment for low and high volume processes.

• Good communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization

• Experience with general automation and control concepts along with machine vision systems and PLC software programming.

• CAD software skills are also required (ProE, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD).

• Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

• Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

• Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

• Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

• Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

• Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

• Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

• Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.

• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
