Position Summary: This person will be a goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly accurate and motivated Biller. Primary duties include but are not limited to reviewing and submitting claims on a daily basis, applying insurance and patient payment, consistently following up on unpaid claims utilizing, monthly aging reports and filing appeals when appropriate to obtain maximum reimbursement. Other duties include data entry of all patient demographic, guarantor and insurance information, and verification of Insurance benefits for patients.

Responsibilities: The Medical Billing Specialist’s responsibilities include but are not limited to…

Maintains a Monday- Friday 8am-5pm work schedule.

Claims submission and timely follow up on insurance claim denials, exceptions or exclusions.

Verifies completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission to ensure that all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors.

Reading and interpreting insurance explanation of benefits

Accurate posting of all insurance payments, patient payments, and approved write-offs in the billing system

Generates monthly billing statements for patients

Utilize monthly aging accounts receivable reports to follow up on unpaid claims aged over 30 days.

Make necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by insurance companies.

Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients and providers.

Regularly meet with Account Manager to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles.

Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.

Prepare weekly/monthly Insurance Reports

Manages relationships with various Insurance payers.

Responsible use of confidential information.

Perform to company standards of compliance with policies and procedures.

Multi-task and work courteously and respectfully with fellow employees, clients and patients.

Qualifications:

Certification from an accredited Medical Billing Program

Experience in CPT and ICD-10 coding; familiarity with medical terminology.

Excellent customer service skills.

5+ years of work experience in Medical Billing (alternative care experience preferred)

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail

Experience with Office Ally Preferred

Advanced MS Excel skills

Pay range: Hourly DOE
