Printpack is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Senior Product Development Engineer I or II for a key customer account. The position will be located in Atlanta, GA.

Job Description:

Deliver an exceptional customer experience to our largest customer as a member of a dynamic team

Collaborate with commercial teams and large CPG customers directly to identify customer challenges and areas for growth, delivering value through innovation, project leadership, and continuous improvement

Successfully partner with internal and external customers to meet Printpack’s objectives, traveling to execute trials at suppliers, Printpack manufacturing sites, and customer packaging locations

Apply a combination of material, manufacturing process, and quality knowledge and experience to develop and optimize superior flexible packaging offerings that meet customer needs and expectations

Participate in strategic account planning and product management of customer specifications

Ensure rapid, successful project completion including commercialization of new products through cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and operations

Able to work both independently and with groups to provide solutions to novel challenges

Drive initiatives across the organization, delivering value to the customer and our manufacturing sites

Establish and maintain strategic relationships with customer contacts and suppliers with full autonomy

In-office data analysis, innovation brainstorming, mock-up creation, and sales support, including bid/quote creation, technical data sheet development, and regulatory reviews;

In-plant trial support, including technical guidance, sample collection, coordinating testing, standard operating condition (SOC) creation, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities;

At-customer responsibilities, including supporting trials to ensure machinability requirements; being a consultant on the existing portfolio and new opportunities; presenting technical details to target audiences; leading innovation sessions.

Develop skill as a subject matter expert in one or more technical areas and facilitate information exchange and mentoring of colleagues in these areas

Requirements:

Four-year degree in a related technical field (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Polymer or Material Science, Packaging Science, etc.)

2-4 years of direct manufacturing experience, flexible packaging (printing/laminating/bag-pouch making/etc), blown or cast film, or a related industry in the capacity of process engineer, and/or a process engineering, quality, or production leadership role

2-4 years product development experience in flexible packaging

A minimum of eight years’ experience in the flexible packaging industry preferred

Experience with continuous improvement driving cost savings, process improvements, raw material sourcing initiatives, and the like

Product development experience in both innovation and onboarding execution

Experience managing complex projects with demonstrated project management skills

Evidence of relationship building with customers and internal/external stakeholders

Evidence of presentation skills and business awareness

Experience leading cross functional teams with business results

Travel commitment: 25 – 50% (U.S. Customer/Printpack plant trials)
