About the Role:
Reporting to our Senior Manager, IT, the System Administrator will play a critical role in managing and optimizing a variety of IT tools and systems that are pivotal to our company's success. Expertise in Okta, Microsoft 365, Slack and CrowdStrike, along with a broad knowledge of other IT tools, will ensure the smooth and secure operation of our IT infrastructure. The System Administrator will act as a key technical resource on the implementation of projects, acquisitions and maintaining our internal systems. Acting as Tier 2 support they will provide guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team and assist as needed.
A day in the life:
Administer IT tools used within the company, both maintaining access permissions and maintaining the tools themselves
Work with Internal Security to remediate audit findings in a timely manner
Develop and maintain the overall security posture of IT resources
Review and update security policies annually
Provide mentorship to junior team members includes cross-training team members on new
technologies
Act as Tier 2 escalation point for support issues
Technical Lead on new projects and implementations
Identify areas for improvement, research and evaluate potential solutions and raising these
improvements and solutions with the Senior Manager for actioning
Assist with annual budget planning
Ensure the integrity of data storage and backup systems
Maintain the internet connection and firewall and monitoring security tools
Manage the configuration of operating systems
Respond immediately to security or usability concerns
Anticipate potential problems and taking action to solve them before they impact users when
possible
Test software and review application logs to validate software/applications prior to deploying to
users
Documentation of the network’s configuration
What you bring to the team:
Bachelor’s degree in Technology or relevant experience
3+ years of experience as a System Administrator or similar role supporting large user base
Good problem-solving and communication skills
Knowledge of Security best practices and solid understanding of privacy laws
Demonstrated project management expertise
Results-driven and outcomes-focused
Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills
Excellent collaborator and team player
Proven ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Thirst for knowledge and continuous learning of new technology
Experience with Okta, Microsoft 365, Slack and CrowdStrike is preferred
Location, and in-office requirements:
AlayaCare supports a flexible hybrid working model, expecting that our employees have a regular in-office presence at their closest office location while offering flexibility for some remote work. Our team encourages in-person collaboration and with this, the preferred candidate location for this position would be within the Greater Toronto Area.
