CNC Programmer

The Lead CNC Programmer is responsible for performing critical functions in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment, supporting a company that plays a vital role in national defense. The primary responsibilities include utilization of blueprints and models, comprehension of technical requirements and creation of CNC programs and documentation. In this position, attention to detail is crucial. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. The Lead CNC Programmer drives the programming team to fully utilize available technologies and support team skill development.

Responsibilities/Objectives

PERFORMANCE: Continuously reduce prove out times while improving quality and delivery by completing all work on time or early that “works the first time”

TECHNOLOGY: Increase manufacturing efficiency and throughput by maximizing the capabilities of all machine tools and programming software systems

ORGANIZATION: Support the CNC programming team to ensure available technologies (e.g.: simulation, advanced tool paths, on-machine probing, etc.) are fully utilized and the team is growing relevant skills

What you will get to do

Lead the Cogitic CNC programming team.

Support and comply with Cogitic Quality Management System

Utilize and gain proficiency in ProShop ERP software for daily tasks and projects.

Utilize work orders and blueprints to determine the best machining process with consideration of required tolerances and GD&T, for complex machined components.

Utilize Mastercam and NCSimul to provide programs for 3, 4 and 5 axis mill and mill-turn machines.

Utilize on machine probing system (CIMCO Probing)

Provide input and information for the creation of robust, repeatable processes for machining Heat Resistant Super Alloys and other exotic materials.

Solid modeling of customer designed components and assemblies.

Select, design, and implement fixtures and workholding.

Perform hands on tasks in manufacturing to support on time shipment and development of processes and procedures.

Results

Drive increase in machine tool utilization while eliminating scrap, mistakes, and workflow interruption.

Gain expert level proficiency in ProShop ERP software

Required deliverables are complete prior to scheduled production dates 100% of the time.

Programs and processes are built, so they “work the first time,” eliminate operator intervention and run “lights out” when possible.

On machine probing is integrated into programs and utilized to its potential

All operational data (time estimates and actuals, work orders, instructions, and process development) is entered, stored, maintained, and updated in ERP.

Effective collaboration and communication are demonstrated through daily interactions and execution of tasks.

Organizational Relationships

The Lead CNC Programmer reports to the Manufacturing Manager and has support responsibilities to Mission Assurance, Quality and Supply Chain.

Qualifications and Experience

Associates degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Programming or Drafting – required.

5 years of CNC programming experience in Mastercam (within the last 7 years) – required.

5 years of CNC programming to support mills and lathes - required.

Working knowledge and experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software – required

MastercamU certifications - preferred

Certified SolidWorks Professional Certification - preferred

Familiarity with ERP, Microsoft Office, and other technical software systems - required.

Minimum 3 years of working in a machining environment - required.

Ability to pass a background check - required.

US citizen- REQUIRED.

Salary info:

$35 - $50 / hr
