Overview:

The Surgery Scheduler assists patients, families, and staff with scheduling needs and maintaining the office. This role is responsible for performing a wide variety of complex administrative activities to ensure efficient process flows.

Schedule: (Full time, Monday- Friday 8:30am-5pm)

Responsibilities:

Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers by applying best practices and standard operating procedures.

Prepares correspondence, documents, reports and other materials which may be moderately complex or confidential, sometimes requiring independent judgment.

Schedules appointments for patients; verifies all patient information, (charting, billing, medical record, insurance, etc.), prior to initial visit.

Initiates patient chart and completes appropriate labeling for the next day’s schedule (prints chart packs and corresponding forms; assembles charts in order of admission; and places all necessary papers in each patient chart).

Coordinates lab and x-ray requests. Collects surgical information and makes room assignments consolidating surgeons’ cases and anesthesia type.

Maintains medical staff documentation on privilege delineation, average usage time and operating room utilization. Maintains medical record assembly and review process; provides patient number, patient chart packs and labels for charts.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Education:

High school diploma, required

Preferred Experience:

One Year in medical field

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Good communication skills

Good planning and organizational abilities

Ability to multi-task and change directions without error

Ability to interprete data

Minimum Physical Requirement:

Ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs (Occasionally)
