Planet Aid is a nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used textiles to protect the environment and support sustainable development in impoverished communities around the world is seeking a full-time, Donation Center Attendant in Northern Virginia.

The Donation Center Attendant will be responsible for the cleaning, servicing, and basic maintenance of Donation Centers and the surrounding area at placement sites, as well as support in the placement/replacement of Donation Centers. The Attendant will also respond to customer service issues for clients and site hosts.

This position reports to the Donation Center Project Manager and will spend the majority of the time in the field performing maintenance at host site locations.

Weekends are required for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other responsibilities may be assigned)

Service locations based on an assigned route from DCPM.

Bagging any loose donations, trash or other debris that may be present at the centers.

Place all bags into carts.

Ensure the donation center locations are clean and free of debris at all times.

Estimate weights of donations.

Interact with site hosts to ensure their needs are met.

Safely operate a company vehicle.

Collect donations when needed.

Responding to customer service issues including accidental drops.

Perform weekly site inspection and complete inspection log. Communicate any deficiencies to Project Manager.

Assist Planet Aid Driver with product transfers.

Troubleshoot equipment as needed. (cameras, locks, chutes, etc)

Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Valid Driver’s License and Driving Record that meets Planet Aid’s corporate insurability standard required.

Landscaping, facilities, or property management experience is strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Using effective communications skills, the ability to verbal convey information as appropriate for the need of the audience.

Some Spanish language skills preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Knowledge of landscaping tools and techniques.

Must be able to work flexible hours potentially including some weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. continually throughout the day.

Continually able to reach overhead, bend, squat, kneel, dig and operate landscaping equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position will predominantly work outdoors with regular exposure to the elements and will also be exposed to industrial and chemicals that may require the use of protective equipment. Planet Aid will provide PPE such as protective eyewear, earplugs and gloves, and any other materials needed to perform the job.
