Senior/Research Engineer - Glass

Saint-Gobain Research India is looking for Research Engineer/Senior Research Engineer to boost innovation in our solution portfolio, comprising of new product and process development, enabling business ambitions for growth and impact.

The candidate will drive projects independently under Glass R&D. Able to make a project plan and apply DOE, statistical tools in executing the projects with the tight timelines.

To Work closely with other researchers in competency labs of SGRI as well as Plant and Design teams. Performing lab scale & pilot scale experiments as required in the project.

Needs to be Solution oriented & collaborative mindset with strong technical inclination & curiosity.

Willingness to travel as per business & project requirement to visit customers and for conducting trials at customer locations.

Skill Sets:

· Strong theoretical and practical knowledge on polymer and metals.

· Solid knowledge of material properties for polymers as well as metals especially aluminium.

· Strong process understanding for unit operations for polymers especially extrusion processes, powder mixing as well as metal extrusion and coating processes.

· Should have strong ability to establish structure-property-process relationship and be able to apply for Root Cause Analysis.

· Strong in interpretation on characterization & tests reports.

· Possess strong leadership skills –having experience in leading projects using stage gate methodology.

· Good people connect across cross-functional and multi-functional teams.

· Understanding of corrosion chemistry and tests is highly desirable.

· Hands on experience in polymer processing techniques and/or metal coatings with basic understanding of formulations is added advantage.

· Should posses good time management skills and should be able to prioritize based on requirement in dynamic work culture.

· Basic knowledge on statistical tools.

· Should possess good verbal and written communication skills.

· Mandatory to have good presentation skill to convey message in concise manner.

Qualification:

· Ph.D. in the area of Mechanical/Materials Science/Polymer with 2-4 years of relevant industrial experience OR

· Masters in the area of Mechanical/Materials Science/Polymer with 5-10 years of relevant industrial experience

· Bachelors in Mechanical with Masters in Materials Science/Polymer with 5-10 years of relevant industrial experience, is desirable.
