Position: Corporate Controller

General Responsibilities:

The Corporate Controller for Cargo Logistics Network (CLN) will maintain updated, accurate financial bookkeeping & records for the organization. The individual will report to the CFO and work closely with Sr. Leadership to mature the financial controlling function within the organization, as the company experiences transformational growth.

Coach and lead a small finance team while consolidating financial results, compiling financial statements and evaluating the company’s financial health. The Controller will be responsible for designing/ overseeing accounting policies and procedures to streamline the financial close processes and work with outside auditors on tax and financial compliance preparations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations:

1. Planning, coordinating, and directing all company accounting operations and processes; all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards.

2. Manage the Month End Close Process, Produce Monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement

3. Evaluate and monitor control systems and evaluating the effectiveness of the company’s accounting software and financial database.

4. Analyze accounting operations, making financial and process recommendations for improvement, and implement new strategies and processes.

5. Lead ERP system enhancements or implementation of consolidation tools for automation/ simplification of processes and more accurate results.

6. Coordinate auditing activities and ensure all documentation is accurately represented; oversee and manage regulatory reporting, including tax preparation and compliance.

7. Support Payroll & Treasury Management Functions, including bank portal administration & AP execution; oversee bank account reconciliation activities.

Financial Reporting:

1. Manage the consolidation and organization of all company financial data required for accurate reporting of operational results.

2. Report financial updates to senior leadership by evaluating and analyzing appropriate data points.

3. Use information about company expenses, spending, revenue, and profitability to support important financial decisions for the company.

4. Preparation and review of quarterly bank covenant compliance documentation.

5. Build proforma financial models and advise on the budgetary impact of any new initiatives including real estate purchases and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:

1. Understanding of US GAAP and other accounting regulations

2. Strong technical skills, data driven and detailed oriented. Demonstrated ability to “roll-up sleeves” and work with team members at all levels of the organization in a hands-on management capacity.

3. High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality regarding data being reported

4. Ability to analyze large amounts of data throughout the organization

5. Strong Microsoft Excel and financial modeling

6. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities independently

7. Strong Business Systems Experience; familiarity and experience sourcing data from ERP systems

8. Works well in a team and ability to articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills

9. Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

2. 10+ years’ experience executing financial accounting in a fast-paced work environment

3. Experience in building and maintaining excel-based financial models

4. Ability to work cooperatively with hands-on management or with minimal supervision

5. Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10% of the time)

Benefits:

Following the evaluation period, Health/Dental/Vision care will be provided per the company plan, along with a PTO package of 18 days.

Medical / Dental / Vision: employee pays for any family members. Percentages paid by CLN for the employee only:

1. Medical: CLN pays 100%

2. Dental: CLN Pays for 50% - cost to employee is minimal

3. Vision: CLN pays for 0% - cost to employee is minimal

Life Insurance: coverage is 2x annual salary, min 200K – CLN pays 100%
