The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for assuring that the products being delivered to our clients meet our engineering standards, are fit for purpose, and free from defects, operational problems, or errors. This is accomplished by providing support for all quality-related activities and ensuring effective coordination between internal and external customers/suppliers during the marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and installation phases of a project.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position

Provide support to the Vice President of Engineering and Quality, Quality Assurance Manager, Mechanical and Hydraulic Engineers, Field Service, and Manufacturing as required to facilitate the incorporation of the customer and company quality requirements into processes and designs
Assist with internal audit functions required by ISO and customers
Participate in internal audits of manufacturing processes, control plans, work instructions, and process documentation
Assist with the NCR reporting process using our quality management software (currently Intelex). Assign responsibility as appropriate, assist as necessary with investigations and root cause analyses, and facilitate final approval through the Corrective Action Board
Assist with, and help facilitate Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and Reviews for Effectiveness (RFEs)
Work with production and engineering teams as required to resolve issues
Assist in the generation, review, and revision of Inspection and Test Procedures created internally
Review and acceptance of Inspection and Test Plans received from vendors
Review and acceptance of quality documentation received from vendors
Support the deployment of the American Hydro Quality Management System elements such as document control, and inspection and test plans and proposal support with Quality Write-ups
Assist with the building and organization of the quality control document packages at the completion of the projects
Assist with maintaining records, certifications, and documentation for completed inspections.
Participate in vendor qualification and auditing processes
Familiar with the use and care of measuring and test equipment – micrometers, calipers, pi tapes, etc
As required, perform routine inspections of in-process, and finished products using standard dimensional measuring equipment and compare results against specifications to determine quality status
Track, analyze, and report on materials, processes, and products to ensure they meet the organization's quality standards
Responsible for the gage calibration system
Perform and/or participate in the following:
Review of component inspection status and release for shipment
Review/approval of vendor submittals (nonconformances, weld/NDE procedures, inspection plans, heat treatment/stress relief procedures, and records)
Review of customer specifications
Auditing (Internal and External). Develop inspection and quality procedures and quality audit/surveillance records and perform audits and surveillance
Client/Source inspection
Lessons Learned Meetings
Verify inspection records & documentation compliance
Perform process capability evaluations, investigate results of quality inspection disputes and root cause analysis studies, and report findings
Development Responsibilities
Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders with the goal of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction
Improve the Quality Culture within the American Hydro Team
Support production personnel on quality-related issues
Understand and support the importance of record-keeping and documentation
Authorities
Review and approval of Quality data supplied in support of manufacturing efforts both internal and external
Review and approval of Quality Forms and applicable Quality SOPs
Assist as required with the review and approval of ISO 9001 documentation
Calibration of measuring and test equipment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements
Experience with Intelex or similar Quality Management System Software
Proven experience in a quality support role

Experience in heavy manufacturing, engineer-to-order manufacturing is a plus
Specific knowledge of Casting, Forging, Welding, Machining, Visual Inspection, Dye Penetrant Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection, and Ultrasonic Inspections is a plus
Knowledge of dimensional inspection methodology is a plus
Familiarity of FARO inspection techniques is a plusQualifications
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma (or GED) or 6-12 months of related experience and training
Associate’s Degree preferred
