As a Clinical Assistant specializing in child and adolescent care with Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of clinical documentation. By reviewing documentation for adherence to various standards and guidelines, you will help to maintain complete and precise clinical records while providing essential support to our clinical staff. Your responsibilities extend to assisting outpatient clients by facilitating intake processes, explaining treatment guidelines, and addressing any barriers to attendance. With your knowledge of mental health and substance abuse care laws, including HIPAA regulations, you will help uphold the highest standards of care and confidentiality. Additionally, your proactive approach in re-engaging clients in treatment after missed appointments and communicating trends in clinical documentation will be crucial in delivering exceptional service to our community.Would you be a great Clinical Assistant-Child and Adolescent?

To excel in the role of Clinical Assistant focusing on child and adolescent care at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, candidates should possess a diverse set of skills. These include a deep understanding of licensure, accrediting agency, and managed care company clinical documentation requirements, as well as familiarity with internal relationships within clinical records and common treatment documentation practices. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for effectively communicating with staff and clients. A comprehensive knowledge of laws and regulations governing mental health and substance abuse treatment, such as HIPAA and 42 CFR, is crucial for maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

The ability to build and maintain strong relationships, identify trends in documentation errors, and collaborate effectively with clinical supervisors are also key competencies required for success in this important position.

The knowledge and skills required for the position are:

Good knowledge of licensure

accrediting agency and managed care company clinical documentation requirements.

Good knowledge of the internal relationship of various parts of the clinical record.

Good knowledge of the standard treatment documentation practices.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Good knowledge of the laws, guidelines, and legal procedures relating to mental health care or substance abuse treatment, including HIPAA and 42 CFR.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and clients.

Ability to recognize documentation error trends and inform the clinical supervisor.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in Human Services and 6 months of experience working with clinical documentation OR an Associate's Degree in a medical specialty, Human Services or Business, and one year of experience working with clinical documentation OR three (3) years of specialized work experience.Are you ready for an exciting opportunity?
