The Graphics Coordinator (GC) is responsible for overseeing the creation of complex art on multiple projects prior to the production of textbook and digital products. The Graphics Coordinator organizes complex, long-term art programs, works closely with editorial colleagues and external vendors to meet strict deadlines, ensures communication throughout the art creation process, and ensures that quality standards are met
Responsibilities:
Tracking and maintaining art creation and art program schedules
GC must be able to manage their workflow independently around project schedules.
Evaluating the status and quality of received art batch
Organizing projects to ensure timely approval of art and then subsequent of delivery of art to the production team or typesetters; overseeing data integrity for every project
Managing communication for projects, including: directing vendors and providing feedback, attending internal editor meetings and other meetings as needed.
Discuss requirements for the project with internal colleagues and external suppliers
Queries are escalated appropriately, not just forwarded to/from suppliers
Proactively identify issues and solutions; ensure quality during the process by ensuring full requirements understanding and adherence by suppliers
Management of complex art creation is done per requirement and within agreed upon schedules and budgets
Queries are properly interpreted and summarized to/from editorial and suppliers.
Requirement
College degree or equivalent in Graphic Design with 3-5 years of practical experience as a designer, preferably within a publishing environment
Working knowledge of prepress requirements for printing - at a minimum, candidates must have a college level understanding how color and images are reproduced in media.
Intermediate/advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite
Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel in particular) and Adobe Acrobat
GCs use multiple web-based systems, candidates must be comfortable working online and learning new systems quickly.
Experience using Intuit QuickBase also preferred.
