Position Summary:

Consolidate the individual units on a pallet for proper storage or immediate transfer to the customer and/or consumer. Work in a manufacturing environment following appropriate policies and procedures to ensure successful execution of position responsibilities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Sets up and assembles palletizer for production run

Sets the number and pattern for each pallet and each order. Ensure that product is properly stacked on pallets by following the designated pallet patterns, minimizing or avoiding overhang, stacking cases straight, stacking cases without leaning and cross-tying tiers, as required. Visually inspect shippers prior to stacking for unsealed cases, damaged cases, stained cases, and cases with illegible, incorrect, or missing code dates

Quality inspection of each individual pallet before transfer to shipping ensuring that they are not dirty, have broken or missing boards, have protruding nails or are wet. Ensure that product is stacked on the correct pallet (CHEP, Grade A White, Phytosanitary, etc.). Transport pallets with a pallet-jack

Maintains operational sanitation including trash removal and re-boxing of damage, as assigned

Assist in loading tape onto tape machines and adjusting tape machines. Operate a semi-automatic shrink-wrap machine to ensure that pallets are properly wrapped

Maintains documentation of production output

Communicates and shifts handoff to oncoming operator

Good transactional discipline. Accurate scanning of productions cases produced

Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls

Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience

1 or more years of experience

Knowledge and Skills:

Requires good judgment, strength and stamina

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work at a fast pace

Must be able to identify and report any food safety and food security concerns

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Additional demands may be required.

Work Environment:

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
