Job Description

Structural Fitter

Position Summary:

Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and

layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools. Reports to department

lead man.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and

measuring tapes.

• Tack-weld fitted parts together.

• Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift

pins, pry bars, and hammers.

• Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and

task sequences.

• Hammer, chip, and grind work pieces in order to cut, bend, and straighten metal.

• Smooth workpiece edges, and fix taps, tubes, and valves.

• Design and construct templates and fixtures, using hand tools.

• To work overtime as requested.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or high school GED.

• Over 2 years of experience structural fitting.

• Require minimal supervision to perform the job.

• Ability to work in a demanding, multi-task environment.

• Ability to manipulate tools and assembly components involving fine and gross motor

skills sufficient to demonstrate welding job tasks.

• Ability to lift 40 pounds.

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.Company Description
