Middle Officer - Oil & Gas

Selby Jennings is partnered with global Oil & Gas firm who is currently in the process of expanding their presence in Houston. This would be the first Middle Office hire in their Houston office and the successful candidate would be working closely with their global middle and front office teams, specifically Houston & Geneva. They are looking for someone with a strong understanding of physical oil markets and physical commodities. This position will be reporting directly into the Managing Director of the Global Middle Office.

Responsibilities:

Ensure adherence to internal and external policies and constraints in trading activities.

Maintain and enhance deals and data in the Energy Trade and Risk Management (ETRM) system to align with current trading strategies and operations.

Assess daily Profit & Loss (P&L) and Exposure for assigned trading desks.

Maintain regular communication with Traders to ensure accurate booking and system allocations.

Collaborate with various departments to identify and address inconsistencies in ETRM data.

Conduct occasional market or quantitative analyses as needed.

Ensure precise market valuation of held positions.

Collaborate with fellow middle Officers to analyze specific trading transactions and activities.

Contribute to the daily P&L reconciliation process.

Share knowledge and expertise with other members of the Risk Management team.

Qualifications:

2-6 years of experience in a Middle Office/Risk function supporting commodity trading activities

Strong understanding of Physical Oil markets & physical commodities trading

Experience using an ETRM tool

Technical skills such as VBA, SQL, or Python highly desired

Exceptional communication & interpersonal skills
