Our niche? We are a custom fabricator specializing in abrasion- and corrosion-resistant linings and coatings with an emphasis on vulcanized rubber. Abtrex fabricates ASME pressure vessels, storage/processing tanks, and other ancillary equipment including piping, tumblers, hoppers, and chutes. The Abtrex team works together with a shared goal to double in size as a turnkey manufacturing and rubber lining company within the next five years. Our clientele is comprised of a wide range of industry sectors including steel/chemical/food processing, power generation, and mining from around the world.

We are currently looking for Design Engineer/Estimator to join our team in South Bend, Indiana. If you have mechanical and/or structural designing and estimating experience this role will be a great fit.

Responsibilities

You’ll love coming to work every day if you have the capacity to:

Design and estimate tanks according to ASME Section VIII, API 620, and API 650 standards.

Interpret and apply design specifications and standards (I.e., ASME, ASTM, and ASCE)

Utilize SolidWorks to generate detailed part models, assemblies, and drawings.

Understand project requirements, plans, specifications, and codes to deliver accurate submittals.

Provide estimating services, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction-level estimates.

You’ll have success here if you value clear processes and feel qualified to do the following things:

Working independently on estimates, bid packages, and projects ranging from $25K to $10MM.

Developing and presenting proposals tailored to specific customer requirements.

Reviewing subcontractor pricing from proposals through change orders for ongoing projects.

Using and creating standard work instructions to drive process improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (candidates with experience as opposed to education will be considered as well)

5+ years’ of experience in tank and/or structural design and fabrication

Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD Mechanical

Familiarity with ASTM/ASME/API standards and knowledge of welding and engineering practices

Background in steel fabrication and estimating is required

Experience in cost estimation

Familiarity with structural fabrication, industrial construction contracts, and terminology

Experience as a Construction Manager or Project Manager is beneficial

Preferred experience in corrosion and/or abrasion control

Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities

Salary: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
