Financial Controller

Reston, VA

Department: Finance & Accounting

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

As the Financial Controller, you will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for the accounting operations of the company.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Establishes and streamline a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize/mitigate risk.

Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Manage the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management on a monthly basis.

Works with and coordinates activities with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.

Files quarterly and annual tax returns with Federal, State & Local tax agencies.

Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.

Responsible for the company general ledger.

Oversee US payroll including bonus and commission calculations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversee the operations of the accounting department, which includes accounts payable and accounts receivable individuals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

Minimum 7+ years of related experience

Experience with Government Contracting accounting

Excellent management and supervisory skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills

High energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude

Optional Desired Qualifications

Experience with the accounting platforms Unanet and Quickbooks

Experience reporting to a Board of Directors
