Ashcraft & Gerel, a growing multi-state personal injury law firm with a 70-year legacy, is looking for a Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join our highly reputable team in our Charleston, SC office.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Research and Analysis:

Conduct legal research to assist in case preparation.

Analyze and evaluate medical records, police reports, and other case-related documents.

Case Management:

Assist attorneys in the preparation and filing of legal documents, including complaints, pleadings, and motions.

Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all necessary documents are in order.

Coordinate with court personnel, opposing counsel, and clients to schedule hearings, depositions, and trials.

Client Interaction:

Communicate with clients to gather information, provide case updates, and answer their legal questions.

Maintain regular contact with medical providers, insurance companies, and other parties involved in cases.

Investigation Support:

Assist in gathering evidence and conducting interviews with witnesses and experts.

Prepare and manage the documentation of evidence, photographs, and exhibits for trial.

Administrative Duties:

Manage attorney calendars and schedules for court appearances, meetings, and deadlines.

Prepare and send correspondence, including demand letters, settlement agreements, and discovery requests.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a personal injury paralegal or legal assistant is preferred.

Familiarity with case management software and legal research tools.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when necessary.

Meticulous attention to detail, especially when handling legal documents and records.

The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
