Job Description

Job Title: Engineering Assistant

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Chief Engineer

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prioritize work assignments and orders based on production schedules, material availability, and/or anticipated delays in production queue.

Interpret sales orders with given data to confirm they meet Yates Industries standards.

Process job orders for shop floor in Made to Manage (M2M) and Product Data Management (PDM).

Create approval drawings in SolidWorks as required by customer and/or sales department.

Assist shop personnel with questions on prints for jobs and other needs as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Excel, Internet Explorer, Made2Manage, and Microsoft Outlook. Solid Works experience is required.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Training:

Vocational school training in a related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:

Ability to read blueprints.

Mechanically inclined

Communication skills

Interpersonal skills

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses and hard sole/close toed shoes with a low heel when walking through the manufacturing shop and/or repair shop whether as part of performing their job or just passing through. In addition, long hair must be tied back when around hazards of flame, machinery, or equipment.
