Director of Development and Community Engagement - WBGU Bowling Green State University Salary: Depends on Qualifications Job Type: Full-Time Division: Enrollment Management Opening Date: 04/18/2024 Location: Main Campus (BG), OH Job Number: BGSU00412 Department: Enrollment Management Closing: Continuous Summary The Director of Development and Community Engagement will advance the mission of WBGU by managing all facets of membership, including but not limited to sustained giving, planned giving, and major giving.

In addition, this position will be responsible for coordinating and managing community engagement components.

This position requires a significant level of self-motivation, goal-orientation, attention to detail, and commitment to identifying, establishing, and sustaining professional relationships with potential major donors and friends to advance the constituent's engagement with the station as a philanthropic supporter.

Responsibilities will emphasize qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that work to secure major gifts in support of the station's fundraising priorities.

Essential Functions Fundraising Actively manage and engage a portfolio of 3,500 WBGU members, with an emphasis on moving these members to major gift status which is $1,000 and above.

Build relationships through 1:1 meetings and engagement activities with major and mid-level WBGU donors (community members and alumni) to increase involvement, create awareness of the need for continued support, and build long-term giving relationship.

Actively participate in WBGU's activities and meetings including, but not limited to, divisional meetings, strategic planning sessions, and team collaboration meetings.

Community EngagementEngage board members, volunteers, and friends of the WBGU through strategic personal communication, meetings, and events.

Be a presenting face/voice of WBGU to the local community and Bowling Green State University using proactive techniques for issues utilizing station programming, while maintaining public awareness of outreach campaigns via print, broadcast, and social media.

Develop, create, implement, and supervise WBGU's community engagement initiatives and related community involvement, including screenings, public events, and leading community engagement discussions around WBGU projects and topics of interest.

Responsible for the collection of individual data from events and activities to both encourage donor support at point of activity or provide additional data points regarding individuals and their affinity for WBGU and its activities.

Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of WBGU, its programs, and strategic priorities.

Actively participate in station functions, including kids and educational events.

Host donors and prospects at events that advance stewardship and cultivate for future philanthropic support.

Seek funds through the State of Ohio as well as national Public Media grants to support community engagement initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following Degree is required: Bachelor's Degree.

Degree must be conferred at time of application.

The following Experience is required:3 years of fundraising 1-year supervisory experience Additional Information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to promote the station's fundraising priorities by developing professional and strategic relationships with major donors, prospects, and other friends of the station.

Ability to engage active listening skills and problem-solving mentality to help create a win-win for the donor and the station.

Ability to think strategically regarding the identification and qualification of new potential donors.

Ability to independently move prospects through the donor cycle from discovery/qualification to cultivation to solicitation to stewardship.

Experience making asks and closing gifts at the major gift level.

Willingness to employ all manner of appropriate communication to secure visits with prospective donors.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook required; experience working in donor databases or other CRM's a plus.

Grant Funded This is a grant-funded position.

Duration of employment is contingent on continued availability of funding.
