Job Title: Structural & Thermal-Fluids Engineering Location: Lexington MA 02420 - Onsite Onsite Requirements: Thermal Engineering Thermal Analysis Thermal Desktop Summary: The Structural & Thermal-Fluids Engineering Group (Group 74) provides innovative multidisciplinary engineering solutions though the development of advanced mechanical and aerospace technologies for sea, ground, air, and space-based prototype systems for national security applications.

Thermal Engineering expertise is required to support the prototyping efforts that span these ranges of applications.

Engineering solutions are developed through the utilization of appropriate technologies coupled with high-fidelity models and multidisciplinary simulations, environmental and performance characterization testing, and the utilization and development of advanced materials to optimize solutions to meet ever increasing performance, size, weight, and environmental challenges.

Job Description: Significant experience with developing thermal architectures for space-based systems, including a background with modeling and simulation of the space environment, orbital analysis, as well as hardware characterization testing is desired.

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary engineering team contributing to the development of operational prototype hardware, spanning the full program life cycle from concept development to on-orbit test.

The position may require special security clearances and travel to meetings and field sites.

Leads thermal design efforts and architecture definition for satellites and space-based payloads.

Conducts thermal analysis using finite difference / finite element models, and plans and executes thermal tests to support model correlation and requirements verification.

Specific analyses to include thermal radiator sizing and placement, architectures for cooling high powered components, tracking of component thermal margins against requirements, and assessing transient behavior of thermal systems in the space environment.

Ability to perform hand calculations in conjunction with utilization of CAD and thermal analysis software.

Experience with tools utilized included Solidworks, and Thermal Desktop.

Must Have: Experience with thermal engineering, analysis, and test for space systems.

Experience specifically using Thermal Desktop modeling software to support development of space systems.

Seeking candidates with 5+ years of experience Nice to Haves: Experience with Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) test design and execution.

Experience with Solidworks CAD software.
