COMMON PLEAS COURT OF FRANKLIN COUNTY DIVISION OF DOMESTIC RELATIONS AND JUVENUILE BRANCH Purpose of Program: The purpose of this program is to help the Court to manage the pro se docket in both the domestic and juvenile courts.

The selected candidate will report directly to Danny W.

Bank, Professor at Capital University Law School but will work in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Division of Domestic Relations, Self-Represented Resource Center, 373 S.

High Street, 4th Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

The selected person will provide assistance to pro se litigants, which will include reviewing and/or assisting with drafting initial pleadings and affidavits, assisting with preparing amended pleadings, decrees and other orders, and assisting the individuals in obtaining any information necessary to finalize their cases and ensuring case flow of pro se cases.

Essential Functions: Creates and manages form template database.

Creates checklists for the various types of cases.

Meets with pro se litigants and review pleadings and/or court files to determine if any amendments to the pleadings are necessary.

Reviews decrees, agreed entries and/or orders necessary to finalize cases.

Receives and responds to questions via telephone or live requests regarding cases.

Retrieves files and papers from Clerk's office.

Coordinates and collaborates with Judges, Magistrates, Bailiffs and Mediation Department.

Oversees/directs work of paralegal.

Keeps statistics regarding the number of individuals served, time spent with the individuals and the nature of assistance provided.

Ensures each pro se litigant executes an acknowledgement that they are not represented by Attorney/clinic or private counsel.

Meets with court personnel and supervisors as required.

Performs other duties/tasks as assigned by the Court, Supervisor or Clinic Director.

Qualifications: Must have a JD and be licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio and in good standing with the Supreme Court.

Preference given to graduates of Capital University Law School.

This position is on a one-year contract eligible for renewal.

This is an essential position and may be required to work during school closings and University holidays.
