Description
As a member of New Columbia Solar's (NCS) Business Development team, the Business Development Manager will be charged with executing site control agreements with commercial real estate firms and property owners to grow NCS' solar development pipeline. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial real estate and/or C/I solar.
Primary Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager will report to the Director of Business Development and will be responsible for the following activities:
Originate value-add commercial and industrial rooftop, canopy, and ground mounted solar projects
Work with Lead Generation and other team members to foster new and existing relationships for development
Log all communications and opportunities to measure activity and progress to goal with CRM software
Accelerate conversations with property owners and enhance deal momentum to convert pipeline into deals
Present solar proposals, financial benefit summaries, and various deal structures to property owners
Conduct deal discovery
Drive negotiations with legal and commercial customer counterparts and work with internal counsel to execute key legal documents
Deliver on an annual solar quota and provide regular updates to team members on status of key relationships
Maintain and expand existing customer relationships through add on capacity and referral opportunities
Seek out and respond to solar RFPs by coordinating operations, engineering, and back office teams
Interface with NCS Project Finance Team to underwrite deals
Interface with the NCS Development Team to understand high level project details
Participate in real estate, community and other kinds of events likely to deliver solar opportunities
Candidate Qualifications
For consideration, candidates must pass all required tests or assessments and meet the basic qualifications listed below:
Bachelor's degree, post graduate degree preferred
3-5 years of experience in real estate or C&I solar business development, candidates with lesser experience may be considered for a Businesses Development Associate role. Commercial real estate experience is preferred
Understanding of real estate and energy markets
Proficiency in core Microsoft Office applications to present customer facing financial summaries and proposals
Strong communication skills and character judgment
Track record of executing on a strategy and accountability toward goals
Strong negotiation skills
Understanding of key financial concepts especially concepts applicable to commercial real-estate
