Entry Requirements

1. A qualification registrable in Hong Kong under the Medical Registration Ordinance; and

2. Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Surgery) or equivalent; and

3. Registered in the Specialist Register in the relevant specialty of the Medical Council of Hong Kong.

1. Selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for up to 3 years depending on his/her existing employment terms. Serving contract employee will be offered contract employment with an up to 15% total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity, subject to satisfactory completion of contract. Serving permanent employee will be offered a fixed term appointment after which the employee may be reverted back to his/her former substantive rank.

2. The offer of salary and allowance (Cash allowance, Fixed-flexi allowance or Monthly allowance) for serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package / employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies.

3. Senior Medical & Health Officer, if qualified and selected for appointment, may elect to convert to Associate Consultant or remain in his/her current employment terms.

4. Staff in medical grade, who is on civil service terms, if selected, will be appointed under the Shadow Promotion Scheme.

5. Candidates who have not acquired the requirements under 2 and 3 but who have passed the exit examination and completed the necessary specialist training requirements before the application deadline may apply. If found suitable for appointment, they may be appointed to the post subject to their production of the required qualifications i.e. FHKAM and specialist registration within 12 months after appointment to the post.

6. Applicant should preferably submit a written reference from the applicant's immediate supervisor within the past 3 years on the applicant's personality, professional skills, management competency and performance.

7. May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.
