Neapco is currently seeking to fill the position of full-time Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Lead Coordinator. This position is based out of our Belleville Drivelines Manufacturing location. Job Description: Environmental, Health and Safety Lead Coordinator

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in driving EHS culture to excellence and Sustainability into business processes.

Promotes and supports the organization’s sustainability philosophy to help reduce the organizational carbon footprint.

Track and trend key EHS KPIs and provide data to help drive progress on initiatives and to help in decision making.

Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations which impact on the organization.

Ensure a safe environment through a team effort of diligent active patrol, strict access control, monitoring, and equipment control.

Develop or utilize existing tools for the employees to work safely and in total compliance with all laws, regulations, and Company policies.

Develop, update, and manage workplace safety policies, procedures, and programs.

Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations as well as internal policies/procedures.

Support department managers by advising and supporting their efforts surrounding safety and environmental audits / inspections; and incident investigations including OSHA recordable and near misses; and periodic evaluation of training needs.

Effectively communicate information to personnel at all levels of the organization

Principally serve in a hands-on consulting and support capacity and all work closely with all levels of hourly, salary and union personnel.

Develop and implement employee safety training programs.

Conduct required safety and environmental related training.

Lead the facility’s joint health & safety team.

Participate in Lean program activities.

Review all safety incidents to determine root cause and corrective action(s)

Maintain visibility within the manufacturing facility, providing individual interaction as needed.

Promote a proactive, facility wide safety culture.

Respond immediately to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, and incidents swiftly and appropriately.

Patrol property on foot, securing personnel, assets, buildings, gates, and fence perimeter are secure in all weather conditions.

Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.

Provide overall assistance to people in need.

Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong understanding of environmental regulations, as well as industrial health and safety

Knowledge of General Industry regulations (OSHA, MIOSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, EPA, etc.)

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to work independently, accepting responsibility for facility environmental and health & safety initiatives.

Mechanical aptitude extremely beneficial

Excellent judgment and decision-making ability

Computer experience required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access).

Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading environmental, health, and safety functions within a manufacturing environment

Experience working with unionized workforce preferred.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with an Environmental, Health & Safety focus strongly preferred.

OSHA 30-Hour certification is required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have one indirect report.

IATF RESPONSIBILITIES

The IATF responsibilities listed below are required for this position. Other responsibilities may be added with or without notice in writing, at any time.

Maintenance of the job descriptions for the salary and hourly team members.

Coordination of training for salary team members. Assist in supporting training for Hourly team members.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required, along with strong active listening skills. The position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical reports, financial reports, and legal documents. The ability to effectively respond to inquiries and complaints from customers, team members, regulatory agencies, executives, or members of the business community. Must have the ability to write presentations, internal communications, and process manuals and instructions that conform to prescribed styles and formats. Have the ability to effectively present information to all levels of business and external audiences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to prepare budgets using Excel applications. Must be able to cost labor expenses.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of information and work and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
