JOB OBJECTIVE

We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled Desktop Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) team. The Desktop Engineer will maintain, support, and optimize our organization's desktop computing environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desktop engineering background, excellent communication skills, and be committed to delivering top-notch service to our employees. This position requires exceptional customer service, the ability to prioritize effectively, and strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. It's critical we have the right person to establish best practices for Desktop and End User Computing Engineering, to allow us to grow with minimal pains of end user computing. You'll be owning and supporting the engineering around desktops, desktop applications, endpoint devices, endpoint platforms and security tools

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Role and Responsibility

Be a thoughtful leader in end user experience space; continuously improve user end user experiences through OS and application optimizations, automation, and streamlined processes

Design and implement unified endpoint management solutions for Windows, and mobile devices using Endpoint Manage tools and best practices

Apply modern configuration management practices to endpoint management

Perform application packaging, installation, troubleshooting, incident, and request handling

Manage desktop policies and configurations through Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), and Azure Active Directory,

Installing and setting up equipment and hardware/software and performing upgrades when necessary

Set up, configure, and integrate applications into the desktop environment, ensuring seamless compatibility and functionality.

Monitor and manage updates and patches for desktop software, ensuring compliance with vendor recommendations and industry best practices.

Maintain deployment checklists for supported end-user computing devices,

Ensure that all required steps in the deployment process are completed and that all systems meet baseline security requirements.

Develop, test, and deploy images and application packages.

Research complex problems and coordinate with core infrastructure, application teams and vendors for service delivery enhancements, maintenance, and upgrades

Make recommendations and implement best practices to improve the process of imaging systems

Coordinate and manage relationships with vendors

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve software-related problems

Diagnose and troubleshoot advanced computer system issues, including operating systems, hardware and software, networking, VPN, connectivity, anti-virus, and other network devices/peripherals, both remotely and on-site

Create technical documents of implementations, break-fix solutions, etc

Assist in creating materials for end-user frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Collect, report on endpoint metrics, and build dashboards to display information

Design, implement, and maintain an enterprise printer solution

Preferred skills

Experiencing architecting end-user support systems.

Experiencing guiding the future of endpoint solutions.

Good written and oral communications skills with clients and management, as well as people skills.

Ability to provide white glove services

Skilled in desk-side support and PC break/fix, including basic administration of Windows O/Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment.

Solid background in PC software and hardware troubleshooting

Excellent research skills to develop solutions that may not be readily obvious

Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly.

Ability to work with deadlines and complete tasks on-time.

MS Office Suite and application support

Advanced Windows Desktop OS knowledge

Advanced,knowledge of Google Workplace

Advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripting

Advanced knowledge of Application Packaging and deployment

Experience with information security frameworks such as device encryption, anti-virus tooling, digital certificates, security policies etc

Experience with deployments on Windows 10/11

Mobile device management experience

Encryption (ie BitLocker) experience

VPN client experience

EXPERIENCE

5 + years of experience providing IT Infrastructure field support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and operating systems.

Datto RMM experience is a plus.

Hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting, and fixing desktops, printers, laptops, and other computers.

Preferably with an Associates Degree in Electronics and CompTIA A+ Certification.
