Solara seeks great Controls Engineers to join our team.
We have openings for entry, mid-level and senior engineers who have experience in and a passion for industrial automation. Total compensation ranges from $80,000 to $130,000, depending on experience
Job Description:
As a Controls Engineer your primary responsibilities include electrical design and programming, testing, and implementation of HMI/PLC control systems, robotics, and vision systems

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
Experience/Education Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in engineering or related discipline (BSEE degree preferred)
6+ years of experience in the automation industry (multiple levels open)
5+ years PLC Development experience (Allen-Bradley, Omron)
Configuring and designing HMI systems (Allen Bradley, PC)
Configuring and programming Motion Controllers/Actuators
Programming robots and autonomous mobile robots (Fanuc, ABB, UR, MIR)
Experience and skill in troubleshooting control system issues
Desired – Programming Vision/Laser Systems (Cognex, Keyence, LMI)
Desired – Programming/integrating National Instruments SW/HW
Job Responsibilities:
Electrical:
Develop electrical design, schematics, and drawings in AutoCAD
Interpret mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements (e.g., SolidWorks)
Research supplier products for assembly components
Help establish new and maintain existing standards
Develop electrical bill of materials
Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per application specifications
Check quality of assemblers/technicians work and assist during assembly
Work with Sales Engineers to provide input with quote preparation as required
Programming:
Design and develop software applications based on specifications or new concepts
Understand client requirements for HMI/communication interface, networking and create specifications based on these requirements
Review, modify, and redesign legacy code (in-house and in the field)
Troubleshoot issues with existing company installed systems
Write user manuals to communicate functionality of company developed programs
Technical writing and Software Documentation (Test Plans, Operating Manuals)
Conduct risk assessments for safety systems and robotics
Requirement Reviews – Participate in reviews and work with Mechanical Engineering to ensure proper implementation of features
General:
Live the company culture of integrity, teamwork, and professionalism
Quality – Ensure standards are maintained in a process driven environment
Able/willing to travel and work at customer sites (10-15%)
Available/willing to work overtime to meet project commitments, as required
