Brunel has an exciting job opportunity (Direct Hire) for an Electrical Supervisor working for our client who are a ship agency, stevedoring and terminal operations company with a 100-year-old reputation for excellent service and solutions in the maritime industry. Located in the delta of the Mississippi River in Louisiana.

Position Summary

Supervise and ensure the safe and correct installation, maintenance, diagnostics and repair of equipment/instrumentation related to the unloading, loading, transfer and storage of cargo including conveying equipment, AC and DC motors, PLCs and IO modules, VFDs and DC Drives, associated wiring and power supplies on ship loaders, stacker/reclaimers, continuous barge unloaders, bucket cranes and various support equipment.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Serve as technical lead to a group of maintenance electricians in areas such as:

Power distribution 13.8kv, 4160v, 480v, 120v, low voltage systems

Troubleshooting discrete and analog control circuits

VFD and DC drive systems, diagnostics, and maintenance

Correct operation of all automated equipment including barge unloaders, conveyors, reclaiming equipment, etc.

Wiring methods for branch circuits such as lighting and receptacles.

Attend and contribute to Maintenance and Operations meetings regarding status of current and future electrical work orders and projects, and ongoing equipment repairs.

Provide supervision over electrical work orders and PMs in the CMMS program including the ability to create, edit, issue, and close work orders which caption all relevant data of the PM or repair task.

Supervise and perform preventive maintenance on all terminal equipment.

Audit routine PMs for accuracy, implement improvements, as necessary.

Provide on-call and/or remote support to Electricians and Operations during unplanned downtime.

Diagnose and repair equipment various equipment used to transfer cargo to/from barges and vessels by use of conveying equipment.

Provide blueprints, wiring schematics, manuals or verbal instructions to electricians and verify their accuracy.

Ensure all electrical work is completed in a safe and timely manner in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Safely operate and/or supervise safe operation of several types of equipment related to transfer of cargo for testing purposes.

Audit inspections on all equipment and report findings in accordance with policy and procedures.

Participate in and successfully complete required training and related testing.

Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.

Perform any other terminal functions as trained, requested and instructed by management.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:

High School Graduate or equivalent required.

3 years of prior industrial electrical supervision experience preferred.

8 years of prior industrial electrical experience.

Master Electrician-level knowledge/experience in troubleshooting at a component level of industrial electronic controls: VFDs/DC drives, PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and associated wiring.

Thorough knowledge and application of Ohm’s Law.

Experience with Emerson (formerly GE) RX3i controllers and Machine Edition software preferred.

Ability to attain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

Support Operations through the installation, programming, start-up and maintenance of electrical, automation and process control equipment.

Responsible for installation, programming, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and automation equipment to improve plant system operation/uptime and reduce total operating costs.

Support all types of facility systems including Emerson PLCs, Control Techniques VFDs and DC Drives, SEL MV control and monitoring, bulk cargo belts.
