SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent. They will be familiar with the roles of the Superintendent, Senior Project Engineer, and Project Manager and will assist them in managing all construction processes to reach the goals set for the project. Duties will typically include, but are not limited to, scheduling, purchasing, submittal review, preplanning, safety, layout, production management, and project closeout.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promotes implementation of Bowen SQP process

Understands and supports Field Engineer duties

Creates correspondence to owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, etc.

Maintains the construction schedule using a CPM program; including engineering, procurement, and construction activities, utilizing Manpower/Equipment-loaded activities for tracking Performance Curves

Assists with constructability reviews and value engineering functions;

Manage new project initialization processes, including audit of estimating change sheets, and recap setup, Buysheet creation

Assists in purchasing including defining scopes of work, material lists, and project specific terms; including maintaining Buysheet, developing Material/Subcontractor requirements per Bid Prices and Scopes of Supply

Manage submittal process. Coordinates and communicates approved shop drawings to Project Team, appropriate suppliers, and subcontractors

Identify, draft, and track to completion request for information

Analyze field production reports and weekly unit reporting

Identifies and maintains potential issues and claims log including accurate direct costs tracking

Assists in preparing project status reports and participates in project status meetings; assists in development of agendas and meeting minutes

Replaces Superintendent on a temporary basis

Assists in accounts payables process

Coordinates inspections and testing

Complete quality paperwork (pre-pour, pipe testing, backfill, etc.)

Participates in site safety audits with Superintendent or Safety Manager

Maintains site safety and training records, unless an safety manager is on-site

Complete draft safety and quality shorts, as needed

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in project close-out activities including management of startup activities and maintaining of commissioning binder

Estimate multiple divisions of work utilizing current Bowen estimating procedures

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

4 year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and related experience

2+ years of construction management experience

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent computer skills

Basic understanding of cost analysis
