POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company’s policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. Maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve, and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements. The Quality Supervisor reports to the Director of Enterprise Quality Management Systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervise and direct quality assurance technicians/auditors who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards.

Review manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing, and sampling plans.

Audit quality control of raw materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and standards.

Oversee the “MRB” product program, including the status, release, and destruction of “Rejected” products.

Assist in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.

Make proactive recommendations and offering/presenting solutions to the Director of Quality to improve quality and work efficiency.

Assist in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs which ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support in order to meet product quality standards.

Participate in all regulatory, third party and customer audits and inspections, and corrective action responses.

Ensure good performance by quality assurance technicians/auditors by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.

Maintain a fair and professional work environment that focuses the business objectives, but also balances quality of work-life factors for employees.

Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings.

Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Quality.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

At least 5 years of work experience as quality auditor/technician/ inspector and at least one (1) year of

experience in a supervisory capacity.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be proficient at reading drawings and specifications and using measuring devices and equipment.

Calipers, height gauges, depth gauges, and fixtures.

Working knowledge of common quality standards (ISO 9001-2015), PPAP and APQP.

Working knowledge of common lean manufacturing systems and implementation.

Five S, value stream mapping, six sigma, Kaizen, continuous improvement, Kanban, etc.

Ability and proven experience in management of programs and projects.

Ability to resolve vendor, customer and internal quality and non-conformance issues.

Supplier and customer visits as required.

Knowledge of corrective/preventive action compliance and the RMA process.

Ability to understand product costs, material, labor, burden and gross profit.

Ability to lead, motivate and train others in quality and continuous improvement techniques.

Competency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Effective communication skills (verbal and written), working on the shop floor, supervision and support staff.

Understanding of safety and personnel policies and procedures.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage Quality Team.

Assist with development of a departmental budget including capital equipment needs.

Partner with other departments to ensure the company meets its commitment for safety, quality, delivery/service and cost.

Be a team player, communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all other departments.

Manage a clean and organized workplace following Five S principals.

Conduct business maintaining the highest level of integrity and work ethic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to stand for extended periods of time while working on the shop floor.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Corrective eyesight should be 20-20.

Ability to work at a desk and with a computer for extended periods of time.

Ability to travel to meet with customers
