IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 121-year-old, independent American manufacturer of high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems and controls seeks an experienced Assembler who is a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve company goals while upholding a culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence in everything we do. This position, based in our facility in Mansfield, Ohio reports to the Assembly Supervisor and plays a key role in the manufacture and delivery quality Ideal products and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ASSEMBLE SMALL AND LARGE MOTORS AND GENERATORS:

Perform work as detailed in blueprints, drawings, work instructions, work orders, drawings, charts, diagrams, technical specifications, and bills of materials.

Heat parts, using hand torches, for assembly or disassembly required for sub-assembly and final assembly of units, hand-fitting as required.

BUILD AND BALANCE ROTORS:

Set up and operate dynamic balancing equipment, selecting the necessary tooling for balancing to the specified assembly requirements.

Fit and assemble fans, fan retainers, shrink rings, and baffles to meet assembly specifications.

Perform static balancing as required.

Achieve proper balance by adding or removing weight utilizing welding, soldering, drilling, chipping, tapping, or grinding techniques.

Perform final vibration and balance adjustments on assembled unit and record results.

In preparation for final testing, install couplings and bearings, align unit using dowels as required, and block rotor; tear down following testing procedure.

Perform work to meet required tolerances and finish specifications.

Obtain parts and supplies necessary for completing assigned work.

Move required tools and materials to, and within, work area.

Properly instruct new learners on all duties of the position.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

High School diploma or equivalent

Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment

Experience with motors, generators, and large rotating equipment helpful

Comprehension of and ability to perform work according to blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and work orders

Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

Experience using hand tools, tape measures and other measuring equipment/gages, punch presses, power press, portable power tools, hand torch, manual and power shears, band saw, torque wrenches, powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, power hoist, grinders, belt sander, soldering equipment, induction heating equipment, jigs, fixtures, jacks, balancing machines, vibration measuring equipment, glass bead machine and zip cranes.WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS

Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40 hour minimum

Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends when necessary

This position generally operates in the manufacturing areas of the facilityPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

is regularly required to talk, hear, read, and write

is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, crouch, crawl, kneel, and balance

will be required to ascend and work from ladders, platforms, scaffolding, and stairs, and to lift and/or move weights of up to 30 pounds unassisted with regularity

is occasionally required climb heights of up to 20 feet

must be able to exhibit specific vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
