Job Description

Job title: 3D Modeling Technician

Reports to: Design Supervisor

Supervisory responsibilities: None.

Summary/objective: Dienamic Tooling Systems (DTS) is looking for a 3D Modeling Technician to add to their team. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have some level of experience with 3D scanning and modeling.

Essential functions:

Capture FARO scan data on-site and at customer facilities using laser scanners and survey tools.

Create 3D models for tooling needs

Process laser scan data, including: cleaning, segmenting large areas, archiving raw and processes scans, and exporting into customer specified formats

Work closely with company leadership, clients, engineers, planners, and other industry professionals

Maintain proper care of the company equipment; ensure security and safety for all equipment and accessories. Required competency, education, and experience:

Degree or certificate in Machine Tool Technology or other Engineering related field.

Experience with Solidworks

Ability to perform quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines

Ability to adhere to all industry standards in design

Excellent verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high degree of accuracy

Strong interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside the company in a professional manner and the ability to work in a team environment Preferred education and experience:

3D Scanning experience

General understanding of the Tool and Die Industry

Experience with other 3D Modeling Software

Understanding of GD&T

Print reading experience Work environment: Manufacturing environment.

Physical demands:

Ability to use a computer for a prolonged amount of time

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Ability to use hands, wrists, fingers.

Ability to reach with hands and arms.

Employee must possess visual acuity to operate necessary machines and computers.

Ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.

Ability to use fingers to grasp and move very small and large objects.

Position type and expected hours of work: Full-time, day shift. Some overtime may be required when workloads are heavy.

Travel: Less than 5%. Most travel is within driving distance – trips are made in one day or only require one overnight stay.
