The Finance Manager plays a crucial role in managing the financial activities and ensuring the financial health of a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company. This position involves overseeing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, accounting, reporting, and risk management. The Finance Manager provides strategic guidance and support to senior management, driving financial performance and contributing to the company's growth and profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Analysis:

Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic planning and decision-making.

Analyze financial performance, variances, and trends, identifying opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and risk mitigation.

Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to senior management on key financial metrics, business performance, and investment opportunities.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop departmental budgets aligned with organizational goals.

Prepare regular forecasts and financial projections, monitoring actual performance against budgeted targets and identifying deviations for corrective action.

Assess the financial impact of business initiatives, projects, and investments, evaluating ROI and financial feasibility.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

Oversee financial accounting and reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements, regulatory filings, and compliance requirements.

Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory guidelines.

Coordinate external audits and tax filings, liaising with auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth and timely audit processes.

Cash Flow Management and Treasury:

Manage cash flow and liquidity, forecasting cash needs, optimizing working capital, and coordinating financing activities as needed.

Monitor banking relationships, negotiate terms, and oversee banking transactions, including loans, credit facilities, and foreign exchange transactions.

Implement cash management strategies to maximize returns on idle funds while minimizing financial risks and exposure.

Risk Management and Internal Controls:

Identify and assess financial risks, including market risks, credit risks, and operational risks, developing strategies and controls to mitigate and manage risks effectively.

Ensure compliance with corporate governance principles, internal policies, and regulatory requirements related to financial risk management and internal controls.

Provide training and guidance to finance and accounting staff on risk awareness, control procedures, and compliance practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA qualification is preferred.

Proven experience in finance management roles, preferably in the FMCG industry or a related sector.

In-depth knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.

Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems, as well as advanced MS Excel skills.
