Job Description
The EHS Manager, Develops, modifies, and assists in the implementation of EHS standards,
guidelines, training, and methodologies to enable the Plant to deliver consistent, outstanding
EHS performance. Ensures that Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements are
incorporated into daily operations, projects and programs. Responsible for leading the Plant
EHS Audit Program to ensure conformance with BPI Packaging standards and government
regulations. Leverage’s data based KPIs and audit results to identify and drive continuous
improvement opportunities and to reduce waste.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the Plant EHS Audit Program to ensure conformance with BPI
Packaging standards and government regulations.
- Implement EHS management strategies, direction and policies with the goal of
protecting BPI Packaging employees, regulatory compliance, reducing waste, and
growing the business.
- Investigate and assess areas in the Plant where performance is substandard and, in
partnership with Plant Manager/Director, make recommendations and assist in
developing actions to address.
- Maintain and improve EHS standards and guidelines.
- Define applicable areas of focus, timelines, resource requirements, and business
partners to drive implementation of the EHS Standards.
- In partnership with the Plant Manager/Director set KPI’S and specify the measurement,
collection, and monitoring systems.
- Maintain existing training programs and identify and develop new learning tools.
- Lead / participate in Plant EHS audits. Provide assistance in tracking and closing of
audit observations and in the use of audit software.
- Participate in optimizing and standardizing factory designs for improved EHS
performance.
- Drive business issue resolution and continuous improvement. Collect key learning’s,
standard methodologies, potential issues / trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure that all serious incidents and accidents are fully investigated, that lessons
learned are codified and shared as appropriate and that corrective action has been
taken to remediate the root causes.
- Contractor Training and qualification will be conducted annually and records kept on
file.
- EHS will maintain the written Emergency Response Plan and conduct training drills on
the same as needed.
- Provide statutory reporting to applicable local, stage, and Federal agency’s
- Develops local site regulatory strategies
Required:
- Bachelors degree in a safety, environmental, basic sciences, or related field.
- A minimum of 6 year’s experience in an Environmental or Occupational Health Safety
field at the management level.
- Safety experience, influence and negotiating skills, strong communication skills, the
ability to work across functions, strong leadership skills, and the ability work
independently.
Preferred:
- Certified Safety or Industrial Hygiene professional.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment. Basic Facilities Management or
Engineering experience.
- PSM/Environmental/ Sustainability experience
