Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design products using CAD and consult with engineering and manufacturing teammates to ensure that designs are feasible.
Develop and build prototypes and run tests to measure their level of function.
Provide technical leadership within a cross-functional team interactions & Asian manufacturing partners.
Report on the status of projects as to the completion of schedules, costs, non-conformances, and risk analysis
Conduct feasibility assessments to ensure product safety, reliability and agency compliance requirements are met.
Coordinate design efforts and work with suppliers to launch new products or modify existing products into production.
Design products while maintaining cost, schedule, marketing, high quality, safety, and agency compliance requirements.
Conduct design reviews, written and verbal project updates, off-tool sample and/or prototype construction reviews.
Support engineering product maintenance, improvement, and cost reductions through ECN process and design FMEA’s.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
BSME or equivalent
5-10 years of experience in product development.
Experience in designing components for the following processes: Sheet-metal stampings and fabrication, plastic injection molding, die-cast, automated machining, and assembly process.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in 3D CAD systems and FEA (Creo and Ansys preferred)
Special qualifications or skills
Six Sigma design practices are preferred (but not required)
Consumer goods and air flow design are preferred.
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, MS Project
Must strive to complete tasks correctly the first time.
Creative both in design and organizational skills
Ability to cope with constant changes in marketing priorities and product requirements.
Solid problem-solving skills
Comfortable working alone and/or in a team environment
Willing to take the initiative to correct issues.
Willing to take charge of situations to make sure the project or task is getting completed correctly and on time.
Must be pro-active in nature to prevent potential problems with designs and scheduling.
Exceptional collaborative, teaming and consensus building abilities, as well as proficiency in cross-discipline, cross-organization, and cross-product group cooperation.
Must be self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
Must be dedicated, pay attention to details and possess excellent organizational skills.
